Entertainment and Comfort in the 2013 Ford Escape

When buying a new car, one factor that carries a lot of weight for many people is making sure that the car is comfortable to ride in. This is a broad category, and often includes things like seating options (leather or cloth, power or manual), and entertainment options (just a CD Player, or do you need HD radio, Sirius XM and bluetooth streaming audio).

This article will cover all aspects of entertainment and comfort features in the 2013 Ford Escape.

Audio Options

The minimum that every 2013 Ford Escape comes equipped with is an AM/FM radio with a single-CD player and an aux in, so that you can plug in your MP3 or WMA player, and 6 speakers. But the sky is the limit from there.

Sirius XM Radio comes standard on the Escape SE, SEL and Titanium, and every new Escape equipped with Sirius XM radio comes with a complimentary 6-month subscription.

With Ford’s SYNC technology (standard on SE, SEL and Titanium. Optional on S), you can link your bluetooth phone and stream audio through that bluetooth link to your car’s speakers. This allows you to do things like play music stored on your phone, stream audiobooks from apps like Audible, and stream music through apps like Pandora or iHeartRadio. In addition, SYNC with MyFord comes with a USB port added to the center console, so you can charge your cell phone via USB or stream audio from most devices that are USB-capable.

If you are concerned with audio quality and having a nice full sound in your Escape, the SEL trim level comes standard with 9 speakers equipped, and the Titanium trim level comes standard with an audio system from Sony, including 10 speakers and HD radio.

If you get an Escape equipped with SYNC with MyFord Touch (Standard on SEL and Titanium, optional on SE), you also get a whole range of port options. Here’s the full list of all of the ports available to you with MyFord Touch:

  • Aux In
  • 2x USB Port
  • RCA Ports (L+R Audio, Video)
  • SD Card Reader
  • Bluetooth Streaming Audio

If you opt for the Navigation System with MyFord Touch, then your SD Card reader will be occupied by the navigation SD card, which comes pre-loaded with detailed maps of the entire country as well as points of interest (hotels, attractions, restaurants, etc) from around the country as well.

Creature Comforts

There’s nothing better than having a completely comfortable car to ride in, and nothing worse than being stuck in an uncomfortable car day in and day out. Luckily, the 2013 Ford Escape has options for everyone.

To start with, the 2013 Ford Escape can come equipped with 10-way power heated leather-trimmed seats with memory (Standard on SEL and Titanium). With the memory feature, you can program in 2 different settings, so that the two primary drivers of the Escape will be able to adjust their settings with the push of a button. In addition, the heated seats can be activated via the 8-inch touchscreen that comes with MyFord Touch, under the “Climate” option.

Also under the “Climate” category, the SEL and Titanium trim levels come standard with Dual Zone Climate Control, so that both driver and passenger can set the temperature to what is most comfortable for them. This feature is optional on the Escape SE, and comes tied with the MyFord Touch System.

Optional on the SE, SEL and Titanium trim levels of the 2013 Ford Escape is the Panoramic Vista Roof, which allows every passenger in the vehicle to have access to the moonroof.

Standard on the Titanium trim level, and optional on the SE and SEL trim levels with the Cargo Management II Package, your Ford Escape can come equipped with a 110V AC Outlet with a household style plug, so you can charge your laptop or phone, or use any other electronic devices in the vehicle. Using SYNC with MyFord Touch, you can actually use your phone to turn your car into a Wi-Fi Hotspot, and with your laptop and phone both plugged in and charging, you can surf the internet from the comfort of your car. Be aware that standard data rates on your phone will apply.
